About Dr. Roth

MY STORY

I have been in the mental health field for over sixteen years and have worked in many different settings with multiple populations. I started my career as an In Home Therapy (IHT) provider, supporting marginalized youth and families in Boston and surrounding areas. After five years of IHT work, I transitioned to working with veterans for three years in the Massachusetts VA Hospital System. For the following eight years I was a staff psychologist and Senior Supervising Clinical Site Director at a large, well-respected, multidisciplinary group private practice in Boston. Throughout each of these experiences I have increasingly honed my clinical and leadership skills. I truly love what I do, and I would be honored to learn about your stories.

MY APPROACH

Change doesn’t come without challenging yourself. I believe that therapy can promote greater emotional flexibility, confidence in decision-making, and enable people to become more fully engaged in their lives. I am a collaborative and active therapist and you will find that I spend lots of time developing a trusting and strong therapeutic relationship. Providing a safe, non-judgmental space is key; this allows for meaningful self-exploration as well as understanding your thinking patterns, relationship choices, and life goals.

I rely on an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and mindfulness-based interventions, psychodynamic psychotherapy, interpersonal therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and family systems work to effectively treat a variety of presenting issues. I also have experience providing parenting training and coaching to individuals with children ages twelve and under. Positive interactions between parents and children early in life can promote increased relationship security, improved interpersonal functioning, and effective social skills throughout one’s lifespan.
